What Does LOVE Mean To You?
Love-a (1) : strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties <maternal love for a child> (2) : attraction based on sexual desire : affection and tenderness felt by lovers (3) : affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests <love for his old schoolmates> per the Webster's Dictionary.
Love- "4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails." per the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is not just a single word or a single action...it is the culmination of so many more things. Have you ever watched a small child who has single minded thoughts and actions? Children want all the attention from mom and dad. Children get jealous of what they don't have but want. Children remind their siblings of wrong doings. Children get angry fast...and are too prideful to say I am sorry. Many adults act like this too. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:11, "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
Loving someone does not mean loving yourself less, it means loving someone else more. Love is not just about sex, it means loving the other person for their charm, their wit, their character, their morals. So, this Valentine's day before you say I love you...think about the meaning it has to you. Do you really LOVE like Christ loved us? Do you LOVE like the Bible tells us love is, or are you just saying what is expected?
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13
Love is powerful...give it wisely and responsibly, accept it freely!
